For the concrete facade of our Dormagen warehouse, we partnered with coating supplier MC-Bauchemie to develop a solution based our polymers.
Two requirements had to be fulfilled: the sensitive colors had to stay bright despite UV exposure for a long time; and the durability of the facade structure had to be increased to ensure long-lasting building protection.
The coating technology chosen also provides very good protection against carbonation and thus increases the durability of the concrete facade structure.
The 2K polyurethane waterborne technology chosen was based on Bayhydur® / Bayhydrol®. This enables long-lasting colors while simultaneously protecting the structure of the building. The high degree of dirt pick-up resistance gives the building facade its long-lasting color brilliance. As Dr. Joachim Käppler, MC-Bauchemie, points out, “the coating technology chosen also provides very good protection against carbonation and thus increases the durability of the concrete facade structure.” The artist Martin Heuwold, MEGX, was also delighted: “Besides the high level of color brilliance and durability, the coating system has a good overcoating time, which is an advantage for the painter in terms of efficient working.”
