Hydrochloric acid (HCl)
Hydrochloric acid, an aqueous solution formed by dissolving hydrogen chloride gas (HCl) in water, is featured in a variety of industrial applications. Our hydrochloric acid production allows for HCl grades as technical, and food additive (FA), which fulfills different EU norms and regulations.
Isocyanate production facilities at various of our sites generate hydrochloric acid as a valuable by-product. As an hydrochloric acid supplier we produce HCl at a concentration of 31% (HCl mass in the solution) at multiple sites in Germany and Spain. This high-purity product is a versatile compound suitable for a wide range of applications in the chemical industry that require low levels of impurities, e.g.
- Water treatment: Production of ferric chloride and polyaluminum chlorides
- Inorganic chemicals: Calcium chloride, zinc chloride
- Organic chemicals: Metal chlorides, biodiesel
- Mining: Treatment of ores
- Recycling/recovery: Phosphor recovery, EV battery recycling
- Agrochemicals: Fertilizers, animal feed
- Other applications: pH adjustment, neutralization, brine treatment, steel pickling, regenerating ion exchange resins
