Both as a direct source of chlorine incorporated into chemical products and as an intermediate in diverse chemical synthesis processes, chlorine is widely used in countless industrial applications to produce a range of chemical compounds.
Though highly reactive, as it bonds with most elements, chlorine is a key raw material that has vital uses in industrial applications. At our manufacturing plants worldwide, chlorine is used in processes for the production of isocyanates and polycarbonates. In different plants, we supply membrane-grade chlorine to customers via pipeline networks for their production of chlorine derivatives, chlorinated compounds and other intermediate products. In Tarragona, our innovative oxygen depolarizing cathode (ODC) technology based on the membrane process for chlor-alkaline electrolysis helps reduce our carbon footprint by decreasing energy consumption, thereby also reducing the environmental impact.
In addition, we offer RNE (Renewable Energy) grade chlorine produced in our ISCC Plus-certified plants and manufactured using power sourced from renewable energy sources.
