Baymedix® waterborne polyurethane raw materials offer a versatile toolbox for coating formulators, including one-component waterborne dispersions and dedicated grades for dip-coating. Elasticity, mechanical strength, durability, and chemical resistance can be fine-tuned for the end-application through product selection and formulation.
The Baymedix® portfolio supports multiple coating application methods. These include doctor-blade coating, transfer coating, and direct coating on foams, non-wovens, and textiles, as well as dip coating on elastic substrates.
Solutions for breathable, soft-touch cast coatings
Baymedix® waterborne polyurethane dispersions are designed for formulating protective, breathable, and soft-touch medical device coatings and compact foamed films on a range of substrates.
These systems cure by drying, enabling straightforward processing via doctor-blade, transfer, or direct coating. The resulting films offer excellent mechanical stability, strength, and flexibility, alongside high moisture vapor transmission. This supports performance in applications where breathability is important.
For applications requiring increased chemical resistance, Baymedix® FP520 can be incorporated as a crosslinker.
Solutions for dip coatings on elastic substrates
Dip coating of elastic substrates, such as surgical gloves, requires coating materials that meet the stringent requirements of skin-contact medical applications.
Baymedix® CD grades are aqueous, aliphatic polyurethane dispersions specifically developed for this application. They support both straight and coagulate dipping processes and deliver conformability and flexibility under repeated stretch.
They offer a range of distinct mechanical profiles, while consistently delivering the surface and haptic properties expected in high-quality medical products.
Solutions for two-component protective device coatings
Some medical device coating applications require long-lasting durable protection against mechanical stress, chemical exposure, or UV degradation.
Baymedix® AP and AR enable two-component polyurethane coating systems for robust, chemically resistant medical device protection. Baymedix® AP536 serves as the isocyanate, and Baymedix® AR602 as the hydroxyl component.
Coating performance and properties such as hardness, flexibility, and chemical resistance can be adjusted in the formulation.
