Siemens ACEND integrates sustainability into fire protection
For the new ACEND™ series, Siemens looked for a sustainable material that is available in large quantities and meets the technical requirements. The material needed to have a reduced carbon footprint, be colorable in red, gray, and white, and comply with stringent quality standards for fire detection technology to achieve Siemens EcoTech certification.*

This is a groundbreaking partnership! Siemens shows that sustainability and top performance go hand in hand. Bayblend® RE cuts the plastic carbon footprint by over 50% – with no compromise on performance.
The main challenge was to find a more sustainable drop-in replacement that offers the same specification window as conventional Bayblend® and is available in large quantities. At the same time, the material should have a low CO₂ footprint and meet Siemens EcoTech criteria.
Partnering with Covestro on Bayblend® RE was transformational for our ACEND™ series. We achieved our coveted EcoTech certification while maintaining superior fire safety performance. This demonstrates that sustainability and outstanding technical quality are fully compatible.
The selected Bayblend® RE, featuring renewable raw materials allocated through mass balance, provides the ideal scalable solution for the ACEND™ series. This ISCC PLUS certified material cuts the CO₂ footprint by more than half while maintaining UL V0 certification and delivering identical technical performance to conventional Bayblend®. It ensures consistent quality with an optimized environmental profile for Siemens EcoTech certified notification devices.
