Product description

Aliphatic anionic polyester polyurethane dispersion. As a combination binder in the formulation of highly flexible, water-thinnable, air- and force-drying primers and one-coat finishes for use on plastics.

Applications

Bayhydrol® UH 240 can be used in combination with hydrofunctional resins, preferably Bayhydrol® U XP 2698, Bayhydrol® U 2757 and in the formulation of highly flexible two-component polyurethane top coats (e.g. in soft-feel coating systems). After crosslinking with, e.g. Bayhydur® 3100 force-drying (e.g. 30 - 45 min at 80 °C) yields films with good surface handle and good resistance to abrasion and water. Formulation/applicationSuitable grinding equipment includes sand or bead mills. During grinding the temperature of the mill base should not exceed 40 °C. After formulation the pH of flexible primers based on Bayhydrol® UH 240 is approx. 8. The flexible primers can be applied by conventional spraying methods. CleaningAll equipment should be cleaned immediately after use or left to soak in water. Warm water, alkaline cleaning agents or alkaline isopropyl alcohol are suitable for cleaning.

Compatibility

Bayhydrol® UH 240 is compatible with many acrylic dispersions, polyurethane dispersions and water-thinnable polyesters. Given the many different products available, the compatibility should always be tested.

Storage

- Storage in original sealed Covestro containers. - Recommended storage temperature: 5 - 40 °C. - Protect from frost, heat and foreign material. General information: An increase in viscosity may occur during storage. If the containers are not sealed properly, the evaporation of water will result in the formation of a film which cannot be redispersed. The product is sensitive to frost. Freezing will damage the product irreversibly. Prolonged storage at higher temperatures may result in a decrease of viscosity and/or an increase of average particle size, possibly resulting in sedimentation or coagulation. Contamination with certain bacteria, fungi or algae may render the product unusable.

Storage time

Covestro represents that, for a period of nine months following the day of shipment as stated in the respective transport documents, the product will meet the specifications or values set forth in section "specifications or characteristic data" above, what ever is applicable, provided that the product is stored in full compliance with the storage conditions set forth in and referenced under section "storage" above and is otherwise handled appropriately. The lapse of the nine months period does not necessarily mean that the product no longer meets specifications or the set values. However, prior to using said product, Covestro recommends to test such a product if it still meets the specifications or the set values. Covestro does not make any representation regarding the product after the lapse of the nine months period and Covestro shall not be responsible or liable in any way for the product failing to meet specifications or the set values after the lapse of the nine months period.
