Strategic partnership delivers award-winning more sustainable mattress solution
The Vita Group, known for its high-quality mattress foams, aims to accelerate its journey toward a more sustainable future by expanding its portfolio of verifiable next generation solutions. As the EU prepares to implement transformative regulations such as the ESPR and CSRD2, the opportunity to act decisively through innovation is here without compromising product quality or profitability. At the same time, growing consumer demand for more sustainable products is reshaping the market landscape. In response, we — together with Vita and other partners — have combined our expertise to create a readily available solution that not only meets these complex demands but also aims to set a new standard for sustainable innovation in the mattress industry.

The mattress industry presents exciting opportunities for sustainable transformation through innovative solutions. This requires forward-thinking companies to make the first steps to meet evolving consumer preferences and future regulatory frameworks. Success lies in finding solutions which can manage the balancing-act of implementing ambitious sustainability targets - like reducing CO₂-footprint or increasing non-fossil raw material share - while maintaining product quality and operational efficiency.
The collaboration delivered an innovative mattress concept using our Desmodur® CQ TDI ms with bio-circular raw materials attributed via mass-balance approach and certified by ISCC PLUS 3. In conjunction with chemically recycled Polyols (rPET) from another partner, the final "Vita Advanced" mattress achieves an impressive 70% carbon footprint reduction, according to calculations by the verification-ready LCA model from Vita, and confirms that circularity is possible. For manufacturers, this means enhanced mattress sustainability properties without modifying processes, while creating a compelling value proposition towards end-consumers.
As this pioneering project demonstrates, proven mass-balance solutions are already available today, enabling the PU industry to start its sustainability transformation now - turning challenges into opportunities.
