Apec® thermoplastic is designed to beat the heat
The uniqueness of Apec® is its outstanding transparency and brilliance paired with a high resistance to heat. It also offers an excellent high-gloss surface for applications such as metallization. This linear, amorphous copolycarbonate can withstand temperatures between approx. -30°C and approx. 150°C for extended periods. It is also tough and resistant to impact.
Our heat-resistant thermoplastic Apec® is ideal for applications in the automotive, electronics, industrial lighting and medical technology sectors. It can comfortably withstand high temperatures up to 150°C according to UL 746B and short-term exposure to up to 200 °C. Because of its good dimensional stability, Apec® can be used to produce precision parts with low tolerances. This makes it an attractive replacement for glass, metal or standard polycarbonate in multiple high-heat applications. The unique features of Apec® also grant a high level of design freedom along with a broad processing range. It is primarily processed via injection molding and is available in clear, transparent, opaque and specialty colored formats. The material’s versatility is further enhanced by grades with UV protection and flame retardance.
