Traditional head-up displays are constrained to a single projection area with fixed geometries. Bayfol® HX photopolymer film breaks through this limitation, enabling multiple independent displays at various positions within a single windshield — all without obstructing the driver's view or requiring attention away from the road. This even allows for simultaneous passenger-side infotainment, keeping the driver fully focused on driving.
The technology behind the display
At the heart of this innovation is Covestro's Bayfol® HX advanced photopolymer film, engineered to create volume holograms that reflect only specific colors of light while remaining fully transparent. The windshield becomes a sophisticated optical element, capable of projecting crisp, bright images that appear to float naturally within the driver's field of view.

Safety meets innovation
By projecting essential driving information directly into the driver's line of sight, holographic transparent displays significantly reduce the need to shift focus to dashboard or infotainment screens. This can reduce reaction times and improve road safety.
Simultaneaously, infotainment content such as video playback can be displayed on the passenger side independently. This content is not visible to the driver, which helps prevent distractions. This allows passengers to enjoy a full media experience while the driver can focus entirely on the road.
