Discover the power of powder
How powder changes the coatings game
From sustainability and resource-efficiency to excellent chemical-, impact-, and weather-resistance, powder coatings offer a wide range of benefits – and the market for these coatings continues to evolve.
For instance, there is a significant shift toward low-bake powders (down to 150°C or even lower) with improved corrosion, blanching, and/or flow, to enable more effective powder coating on heat-sensitive substrates.
Linked to this trend is the increasing demand for more sustainable powders – whether through low-bake technologies or the use of RPET, partly bio-based or alternative feedstock attributed via mass-balance approach.
Finally, there is growing demand for improved functional properties in powder coatings. This includes the trend toward hyper-durability in architectural applications, as well as demand for lower gloss and improved corrosion and appearance.
At Covestro, we continuously innovate to meet these growing demands alongside our customers. From inventing powder-based coating technology over 60 years ago, we now have a strong portfolio of polyurethane powder-coating resins and isocyanate crosslinkers, alongside our polyester product portfolios for heat-sensitive and metal substrates.
Together, these solutions enable faster, more efficient curing at lower temperatures and with less waste, while delivering excellent durability and aesthetics across a wide range of market segments.
- Energy-efficient: Lower curing temperatures enable significant energy savings
- More sustainable: VOCs removed from formulations; lower curing temperatures help reduce emissions
- Efficient: One-coat system with fast drying time
- Tough & durable: Excellent resistance that stands the test of time
- Appealing aesthetics: Enables coatings that look and feel great
