Product description
Impranil® 43031 solution is a one-component polyester urethane based on an aliphatic diisocyanate.
Applications
Impranil® 43031 Solution is used as a topcoat and finish for PVC coatings requiring high surface smoothness and reduced migration of PVC plasticizers.
It is also suitable for use as a topcoat for lining materials, especially for shoe linings with an adhesive polyurethane coating and for polyurethane, PVC and polyacrylate foams used on suitable non-wovens, wovens, knitted fabrics and coagulated substrates.
Impranil® 43031 Solution is also used as the harder component in blends with other aliphatic Impranil® and Desmoderm® Finish products.
Form supplied
Solution in isopropanol/toluene/1-methoxypropanol-2 with a non-volatile content of approx. 25 %.
Specification
| Property | Test Condition | Value | Unit | Standard |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Non-volatile content | 1.0 g / 60 min / 125°C | 24.0 - 26.0 | % | M020 - ISO 3251 |
| Dynamic viscosity | 23 °C | 7,000 - 15,000 | mPa·s | M014 - ISO 3219/A.3 |
Principal properties
- Very dry handle
- High surface slidability
- Low swelling in PVC plasticizers
- High melting range
- Very high lightfastness
Solubility / thinnability
Impranil® 43031 Solution can be adjusted to the desired application viscosity using solvent mixtures of aromatic hydrocarbons and alcohols. Suitable options include:
- Toluene
- Mixture of toluene and isopropanol
- Mixture of toluene, isopropanol, and 1-methoxypropan-2-ol
- Dimethylformamide
In no case should the content of aromatic hydrocarbons in the overall solvent mixture be less than 33 %, nor should the content of alcohols exceed 67 %.
Storage
- Storage in original sealed Covestro container.
- Recommended storage temperature: 5 - 30 °C.
- Protect from moisture, heat and foreign material.
Storage time
Processing
Impranil® 43031 Solution is used as a topcoat, either alone or in combination with Impranil ELH-A/1 solution.
By blending Impranil® 43031 Solution with Impranil ELH-A/1 solution, the surface texture and hand feel of the coating can be varied.
Furthermore, these mixtures improve resistance to kink breakage. The softening range and plasticizer swelling of Impranil® 43031 Solution are not significantly altered by the mixtures.
In addition, Impranil® 43031 Solution can be used to the same extent as a screen and spray finish when appropriately diluted.
