Covestro certifies that the product meets specifications for 6 months from the date of shipment, provided it is stored and handled in accordance with the conditions specified in the ‘Storage’ section. After this period, product performance is not assured; Customers are responsible for retesting material before use. Covestro assumes no liability for product performance after 6 months.
Product description
Desmodur® CQ VKS 20 F MS is a mixture of diphenylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate (MDI) with isomers and homologues of higher functionality (PMDI).
Desmodur® CQ VKS 20 F MS is suitable for combination with Baycoll®, Desmophen® and Acclaim® in the formulation of adhesives.
Applications
Desmodur® CQ VKS 20 F MS can be combined with Baycoll in the formulation of adhesives for bonding many materials, e.g. wood, metal and plastics.
Desmodur® CQ VKS 20 F MS is particularly suitable for combining with Baycoll in the formulation of reactive two-component adhesives and moisture-curing one-component adhesives.
On account of the vapour pressure of MDI, especially at elevated temperatures, adhesives with free isocyanate groups can only be handled in work areas with adequate extraction.
Form supplied
Dark brown liquid of low viscosity at temperatures above 10 °C that may partially crystallise at lower temperatures.
Sustainability
Our certified Desmodur® CQ VKS 20 F MS has a share of approx. 60% bio-circular feedstock attributed via the mass balance approach.

Storage
- Storage in original sealed Covestro container.
- Recommended storage temperature: 10 - 30 °C
- Protect from moisture, heat and foreign material.
General information: The product is sensitive to moisture and should therefore be stored in its sealed original containers.
Detailed information on safe handling, transport and storage of isocyanates is given in the guidelines of the ISOPA association.
Storage time
Processing
Desmodur® CQ VKS 20 F MS may partially crystallise at temperatures below 10 °C. However, this may by reversed. The crystalline deposits can be reliquefied by careful heating to 70 °C for as briefly as possible, although this may cause an increase in the solids content.
It must be ensured that the containers - including those that are empty - are kept sealed. Above all, contact with water must be prevented as it reacts with Desmodur® CQ VKS 20 F MS to form polyureas and carbon dioxide. During storage, sample withdrawal, transfer and processing of Desmodur® CQ VKS 20 F MS, the ingress of water in any form (damp containers, anhydrous solvents, moist air) must be prevented as otherwise the formation of carbon dioxide may cause a dangerous increase in pressure in the tanks and containers. Furthermore, the formation of polyureas in Desmodur® CQ VKS 20 F MS may cause turbidity and possibly solid deposits which may then block filters, pumps and pipelines.
