Die-cutting/Punching: Films for efficient mass-production of quality products
Die-cutting, punching, and stamping are mechanical processes used to fashion film parts into predefined shapes or sizes. A further relevant processing technology in this context is laser cutting.
Applications where our various TPU and PU film products may be die-cut, punched, or stamped include ID cards, labels, ECG pads, emblems, gaskets, surface protection, inflatable parts, shoe insoles and many more. Typical applications for our polycarbonate thermoplastic films include automotive interior trim, dials, signs, operating elements on electronic devices, medical packaging, and display components. Our polyurethane films are used in dynamic lordosis systems, special wound dressings, bulletproof vests, and opaque blinds, along with numerous other applications.

Laser cutting is coming into increasingly widespread use for trimming and contouring plastic films. A key advantage of lasers compared to punches, dies or blades is that they deliver high-precision directly welded cut edges. Eurolaser GmbH, a leading manufacturer of CO2 laser machines for cutting, engraving and marking non-metallic materials, certified our Platilon® thermoplastic polyurethane film and our Makrofol® DE polycarbonate film as “excellently suited” to laser cutting. Makrofol® DE also offers good printing and shaping properties; typical applications for the PC film include automotive interior trim, dials, signs, operating elements on electronic devices, medical packaging, and display components. Platilon® TPU films are used in dynamic lordosis systems, special wound dressings, opaque blinds and a host of other applications.
