General Characterization
Storage Conditions
Recommended storage temperature 20 - 25 °C ( in the liquid state )
Shelf life (ex works ) 6 months if stored in sealed, moisture-tight containers
Storage for long periods at temperatures below +15 °C or above +25 °C leads to a deterioration in quality.
At temperatures below 15 °C crystallisation sets in, encouraging the formation of infusible dimers. This makes it impossible to completely melt the product, even if it has been stored for only three weeks.
Storage at temperatures above 25 °C also accelerates the formation of insoluble sediment (dimers). At 40 °C, for example, the storage stability of the product is reduced to 4 months.
Freshly crystallised Desmodur® PF must be remelted immediately by heating to a maximum temperature of 60 to 70 °C. In doing so, it is important to ensure that the entire contents of the drum are melted and homogenised. The drum should then be kept sealed at the standard storage temperature (20 to 25 °C).
