Hydrochloric acid (HCl)
Hydrochloric acid, an aqueous solution formed by dissolving hydrogen chloride gas (HCl) in water, is featured in a variety of industrial applications.
Isocyanate production facilities at various of our sites generate hydrochloric acid as a valuable by-product. As an hydrochloric acid supplier we produce HCl at a concentration of 31% (HCl mass in the solution) at multiple sites in Germany and Spain. In addition, we also offer an RNE (Renewable Energy) grade of HCl from our ISCC Plus-certified production plants in Dormagen and Uerdingen. This high-purity product is a versatile compound suitable for a wide range of applications in the chemical industry that require low levels of impurities, e.g.
- Water treatment: Production of ferric chloride and polyaluminum chlorides
- Inorganic chemicals: Calcium chloride, zinc chloride
- Organic chemicals: Metal chlorides, biodiesel
- Mining: Treatment of ores
- Recycling/recovery: Phosphor recovery, EV battery recycling
- Other applications: pH adjustment, neutralization, brine treatment, steel pickling, regenerating ion exchange resins
