Biodegradability & beyond: Toward microplastics-free seed coatings
The environmental challenge
Microplastics in conventional seed coatings may persist in soil for extended period. Potential concerns regarding soil quality and environmental impact have prompted regulatory action in this area.
Regulatory compliance
The EU Microplastics Restriction* requires seed coatings without plant-protection to meet specific biodegradability criteria**. Amulix® seed coatings have been developed to meet these future requirements thus helping seed companies and formulators to prepare for these regulatory changes.
A step toward more sustainable agriculture
Amulix® seed-coating binders biodegrade at rates equal to or exceeding 60% within 28 days. This meets OECD 301F standards, complying with the EU microplastics regulation*, while also reducing environmental impact.
Beyond microplastics-free: Amulix® high-performance seed-coating solutions
Despite their good biodegradability profile, Amulix® seed coatings offer excellent performance. They can be suitable for both organic agriculture and high-performance film coatings, providing reliable protection and supporting seed growth.
