Prism CM-200 solid polyurethane system is used in the reaction injection molding (RIM) process.
Product description
Applications
Prism CM-200 solid polyurethane system incorporates an internal mold release (IMR) and is supplied as two reactive components: Component A is a polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), and Component B is a polyol blend. The Prism CM-200 system has a UL94 flammability rating of V-0/5VA and is used for applications in the electronic, equipment housing and appliance markets. The applications typically take advantage of the material’s strength, excellent surface finish, and large-part capability. As with any product, use of the Prism CM-200 system in a given application must be tested (including field testing, etc.) in advance by the user to determine suitability.
Storage
Isocyanate Component – Component A (MDI isocyanate) must be stored in tightly closed containers and protected from contamination with moisture and foreign materials, which can adversely affect processing. It will react slowly with water to form ureas and liberate carbon dioxide gas, which may cause sealed containers to expand and rupture. Storage temperature should be maintained between 24°C and 30°C (75°F and 86°F).Polyol Component – Component B (polyol) is hygroscopic and must be kept in tightly closed containers to prevent contamination with moisture and foreign materials, which can adversely affect processing. Storage temperatures should be maintained between 5°C and 37°C (40°F and 100°F). This polyol system will separate into phases without agitation. Therefore, it is important to mix it thoroughly prior to and during its use. Some of the end-uses of the products described in this bulletin must comply with applicable regulations, such as FDA, NSF, USDA and CPSC.
