Product description
Aqueous polyurethane dispersion.
Dispercoll® U68 PLUS is an anionic waterborne polyurethane dispersion. It is a raw material in the formulation of adhesives for application in the shoe industries. Its characteristic polymer properties make Dispercoll® U68 PLUS particularly well suited for heat-activated bonding applications with excellent anti-hydrolysis resistance, heat resistance, and initial tack.
Applications
Dispercoll® U68 PLUS shows excellent adhesion on most synthetic and natural materials. It is commended to be used in one-component systems. Desmodur® 2802 could be added to one-component formulation to improve anti-hydrolysis and other performances to meet customer-specific requirements. In a two-component application, it is recommended to blend with 3 - 5% by weight of a water-based isocyanate crosslinker, such as Desmodur® products, to further enhance resistance to heat, plasticizers, fats, and oils. Crosslinker should be added right before application and mixed intensively. Pay attention to the pot life of the mixture. Additives such as resin dispersions, emulsifiers, and thickeners could be added to customize certain application-specific properties.
Before application, especially by spraying, the mixture should be filtered to remove any polymer particles which may have formed by initial drying.
For heat-activated bonding applications with Dispercoll® U68 PLUS, bonding temperature in the range of approx. 50 – 70°C is recommended to allow the dried adhesive layer to be fully activated. The practical temperature for a specific application is depending on the process conditions of desire, i.e. bonding time, pressure, and substrates.
Form supplied

Storage
- Storage in original sealed Covestro container.
- Recommended storage temperature: 15 - 30 °C.
- Temperatures higher than 30 °C should be avoided.
- Protect from direct sunlight, frost, heat, and foreign material.
General information: The product is sensitive to temperatures below +10°C. Temperatures below +10°C may damage the product irreversibly. Prolonged storage at higher temperatures may affect the product’s properties. Containers must be kept sealed and protected from direct sunlight otherwise the evaporation of water may result in the formation of a non-redispersible polymer film.
