Applications
Desmolac® 4340 X/iB is used primarily as a physically drying binder for finishes for flexible substrates such as polyurethane and for primers for solvent-sensitive plastics such as polycarbonate.Pigment preparations such as Bayderm® Colours B-TO and C-TO (Bayer) are recommended for colouring formulations. It is also possible to use standard pigments or pigment/extender combinations. The solvent resistance of films based on Desmolac® 4340 X/iB can be greatly improved by the addition of Desmodur® N 75 (10 to 20 %, calculated on the solid resin). This will result in post-crosslinking of the film with atmospheric moisture after 1 to 2 weeks. However, Desmodur® N 75 should not be added until just before application of the coating to prevent reaction with the isobutanol in the solvent mixture of the supply form.

Solubility / thinnability
Desmolac® 4340 X/iB can be thinned with aromatics, esters and ketones to a solids content of around 10 %. It has virtually unlimited thinnability with mixtures of aromatics and lower boiling alcohols (1 : 1). Generally speaking, the product has good compatibility with the solvents listed. However, the solutions formed must be tested for their storage stability.
Compatibility
Generally speaking, Desmolac® 4340 X/iB can be mixed with the following products: aliphatic polyisocyanates such as Desmodur® N 100, N 75, ultra N 3300 and N 3390; aromatic polyisocyanates such as Desmodur® L/ultra L, HL and IL/ultra IL; low-viscosity nitrocelluloses and vinyl copolymers. However, the compatibility of the combinations used should always be tested.Desmolac® 4340 X/iB is not compatible with polyvinyl butyral, cellulose acetobutyrate or cellulose propionate.
