Product description

Desmodur XP 2619 is an aromatic isocyanate based on diphenylmethane diisocyanate.

Applications

Desmodur XP 2619 may be used in combination with suitable Desmophen® grades in the formulation of solvent-free, two-pack polyurethane coatings, fillers, sealing compounds and synthetic resin mortars. It is necessary to add water scavengers such as molecular sieve paste 3 Å to the polyol component to prevent the undesired reaction of Desmodur XP 2619 with water.Systems formulated with Desmodur XP 2619 are suitable for coating concrete, asphalt, fibrous cement and plastics. As with any product, use of Desmodur XP 2619 in a given application must be tested (including but not limited to field testing) in advance by the user to determine suitability.

Form supplied

Form supplied is a brown, solvent-free liquid of low viscosity.

Typical Values

Property Test Condition Value Unit Standard
Isocyanate content 31,0 - 32,5 %
Viscosity at 25°C 135 cps
NCO equivalent weight 131,6 - 132,6
Flash point approx. 198 °C
Density at 20°C approx. 10,25 lb/gal
Solids content 100 %

Compatibility

Generally speaking, Desmodur XP 2619 has good compatibility with many hydroxyl-bearing polyesters and polyethers. A brief pre-reaction may be necessary. If uncertain, compatibility tests should be carried out.

Storage

Desmodur XP 2619 is sensitive to moisture and should be stored in its original sealed container. The recommended storage temperature is between 18°C and 30°C. Storage at higher temperatures may result in an increase in viscosity and at lower temperatures in the formation of crystalline deposits.

Storage time

When stored in its original container, the product will remain stable for six months from date of receipt.
