Product description
Baydur STR-840 is a polyurethane medium to high density structural RIM system used in the Long Fiber Injection (LFI) technology.
Applications
The Baydur STR-840 system is used in an open mold process with varying levels of fiberglass reinforcement depending on the property requirements needed. The system has a long gel time, yet fast cure time, which makes it well suited for large part applications. The Baydur STR-840 system is supplied as two reactive liquid components. Component A is a polymeric diphenlymethane diisocyanate (PMDI), and Component B is a formulated polyether polyol system. As with any product, use of the Baydur STR-840 system in a given application must be tested (including field-testing, etc.) in advance by the user to determine suitability.
Storage
Component A (PMDI Isocyanate) should be stored in tightly closed containers and protected from moisture and foreign materials, which can adversely affect processing. It will react slowly with water to form ureas and liberate carbon dioxide gas, which may cause sealed containers to expand and rupture. Storage should be maintained at temperatures between 10° and 30°C (50° and 86°F).Component B (Polyol system) is slightly hygroscopic and may absorb water. Containers should be kept tightly closed and protected from contamination with moisture and foreign materials, which can adversely affect processing. Storage temperatures should be in the range of 20°-49°C (68°-120°F). Note: This polyol system will separate into phases without agitation. Therefore, it is important to mix thoroughly prior to and during its use.
