Product description
Desmophen 1652 is a linear hydroxyl-bearing polyester resin. It is suitable for use in the formulation of flexible polyurethane coatings.
Applications
Desmophen 1652 is used in combination with Desmodur VL to formulate flexible solvent-free coatings and sealers.If Desmodur L or HL are used, the formulations will only yield a drying film if they are greatly overcrosslinked.As with any product, use of Desmophen 1652 in a given application must be tested (including but not limited to field testing) in advance by the user to determine suitability.

Solubility / thinnability
Desmophen 1652 can be thinned with esters and ketones such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, methylisobutyl ketone, 1-methoxy-2-propyl acetate, cyclohexanone and acetone. However, the solutions formed must be tested for their storage stability.Prolonged storage of a solution with low binder content may result in turbidity and sedimentation.Only polyurethane grade solvents should be used (< 0.05% water, free from other reactive impurities).
Compatibility
Desmophen 1652 can be combined with Desmophen 800, 1100, and 1200 and with Desmodur® L and HL. Compatibility testing is always advisable.
Storage
Desmophen 1652 should be stored in tightly sealed original containers and protected from moisture, heat, and foreign materials. The product is slightly hygroscopic. The product is subject to hazing at low temperatures. After heating or prolonged storage at room temperature, the product should become clear and can then be used with no adverse effects on quality. Recommended storage temperature is less than 30°C.
Storage time
Desmophen 1652 has a shelf life of six months from date of receipt at customer, provided the material is stored in sealed original containers at the recommended storage temperature.
