Bayfit SA513 is a system for producing flexible polyurethane foam used as an acoustic countermeasure in various applications.
Applications
Bayfit SA513 is a system for producing flexible polyurethane foam used as an acoustic countermeasure in various applications including carpet backing, dash insulators, etc. This foam is formulated to meet the necessary adhesive requirements between substrate materials and polyurethane foam, along with NAFTA OEM physical property specifications. This special formulation may be used with either open pour or closed pour mold filling techniques. Bayfit SA513 is available as a two-component polyurethane system from Covestro. As with any product, use of the Bayfit SA513 system in a given application must be tested (including field testing, etc.) in advance by the user to determine suitability.
Storage
Isocyanate Component – Component A (PMDI isocyanate) should be stored in tightly closed containers and protected from contamination with moisture and foreign materials, which can adversely affect processing. It will react slowly with water to form polyureas and liberate carbon dioxide gas, which may cause sealed containers to expand and rupture. Storage temperature should be maintained between 18° and 30°C (64° and 86°F).Polyol Component – Component B (polyol) is slightly hygroscopic and may absorb water. Containers should be kept closed and protected from contamination with moisture and foreign materials, which can adversely affect processing. Storage temperatures should be in the range of 15° and 38°C (59° and 100°F). Note: This polyol system will separate into phases without agitation. Therefore, it is important to mix it thoroughly prior to and during its use.
