The product is sensitive to moisture. Storage at higher temperatures will result in increase of color and viscosity.
Covestro certifies that the product meets specifications for 6 months from the date of shipment, provided it is stored and handled in accordance with the conditions specified in the ‘Storage’ section. After this period, product performance is not assured; Customers are responsible for retesting material before use. Covestro assumes no liability for product performance after 6 months.
Products with free isocyanate monomers can only be handled in working areas with adequate extraction. It must be ensured that the containers – including those that are empty – are kept sealed. Above all, contact with water must be prevented as it reacts with Baymedix® FP512 to form polyureas and carbon dioxide. During storage, sample withdrawal, transfer and processing of Baymedix® FP512, the ingress of water in any form (damp containers, anhydrous solvents, moist air) must be prevented as otherwise the formation of carbon dioxide may cause a dangerous increase in pressure in the tanks and containers. Furthermore, the formation of polyureas in Baymedix® FP512 may cause turbidity and possibly solid deposits which may then block filters, pumps and pipelines. Further Information
The product may crystallize even at room temperature or during transport and might turn solid or turbid upon delivery or become turbid even if the storage temperature is appropriate due to crystallization. It can be reversed by short-term heating to 50 °C. Afterwards, stirring the formulation for homogenization purpose is recommended. The turbidity does not indicate a product failure.
