Product description
Bayhydrol UA 2961 is a waterborne aliphatic polyurethane/acrylate.
Applications
Bayhydrol UA 2961 can be used in the formulation of ambient-cure or bake coatings for a wide range of rigid and flexible substrates such as wood, metal, fiberglass, vinyl, and other plastic substrates. This product has been developed to exhibit a combination of film hardness, flexibility, good water and abrasion resistance, and excellent chemical and solvent resistance. As with any product, use of Bayhydrol UA 2961 in a given application must be tested (including but not limited to field testing) in advance by the user to determine suitability.

Storage
Bayhydrol UA 2961 should be stored in tightly sealed original containers and protected from freezing, heat, and foreign materials. In order to maintain product uniformity, protect from freezing. The containers must be tightly closed to prevent the evaporation of water and the introduction of contaminants that can adversely affect processability. Recommended storage temperature is 5° – 40°C.
Storage time
Bayhydrol UA 2961 has a shelf life of six months from date of receipt at customer, provided the material is stored in sealed original containers at the recommended storage temperature.
Processing
Bayhydrol UA 2961 must be formulated with coalescing solvents to form a uniform film. Utilizing solvents at approximately a minimum of 10% on resin solids will provide optimal film formation. Suitable coalescing solvent examples include: Dipropylene Glycol n-Butyl Ether (DPnB), Dipropylene Glycol Methyl Ether (DPM), Propylene Glycol n-Butyl Ether (PnB), and Propylene Glycol n-Propyl Ether (PnP).
Film properties
Physical Performance Properties (AAMA 614-20/615-20) of Pigmented Coating Film on PVC substrate. (Formulation 57864-B)The system was spray applied on PVC panels at a target dry-film thickness of 1.5 mils. Panels were initially wiped with acetone prior to coating application for performance testing. The panels were allowed to flash dry at ambient conditions and dried at 50°C for 10 min. All testing was conducted after an additional seven-day rest at ambient temperature.
