Product description
Desmophen 7116 is a saturated polyester resin supplied in n-butyl acetate.
Applications
Desmophen 7116 polyester can be used with Desmodur® L 75 aromatic polyisocyanate adduct to produce high solids, high performance polyurethane coatings for both metal and plastic substrates. Desmophen 7116 polyester can also be used with either Desmodur N 3200A or Desmodur N 3390A aliphatic polyisocyanates to produce high solids, high performance polyurethane coatings which exhibit excellent gloss and color retention. Typical end uses are in the transportation and maintenance areas.In cases where higher chemical resistance is desired, increasing the NCO/OH ratio up to 1.5 is recommended. As with any product, use of Desmophen 7116 in a given application must be tested (including but not limited to field testing) in advance by the user to determine suitability.

Solubility / thinnability
Desmophen 7116 polyester is soluble in esters, ketones, glycol ethers, glycol esters and chlorinated solvents. Aromatic hydrocarbons can be used as diluents in suitable solvent systems; however, the use of aliphatic hydrocarbons results in incompatibility.
Storage
Desmophen 7116 should be stored in tightly sealed original containers and protected from moisture, heat, and foreign materials. The product is hygroscopic. Recommended storage temperature is 0º-50ºC.
Storage time
Desmophen 7116 has a shelf life of six months from date of receipt at customer, provided the material is stored in sealed original containers at the recommended storage temperature.
