Product description
Applications
DESMODUR® SWN is a liquid, modified mixture of diphenylmethane-4,4';-diisocyanate (MDI) with isomers and homologues of higher functionality. It can be used in combination with polyols for the production of polyurethanes.
Sampling
Moisture ingress should be prevented when taking product samples.

Storage
Storage temperature: 15 - 30 °CShelf life: 6 monthsLike all isocyanates, DESMODUR® SWN reacts with water and should therefore be protected against moisture. The product is also sensitive to frost and may undergo partial crystallisation if exposed to temperatures below 0°C.
Processing
DESMODUR® SWN can be used for a number of polyurethane applications and reacted with various polyol formulations.Desmodur® containers - including empty ones - should always be kept tightly sealed. It is absolutely essential that water (which reacts with DESMODUR® SWN to form polyureas, giving off carbon dioxide) is excluded from the containers. During storage, transfer to other containers and processing of DESMODUR® SWN, therefore, the access of water in any form (damp containers, aqueous solvents, moist air) must be prevented, otherwise carbon dioxide will evolve and produce a dangerous increase in pressure in the tanks and containers. In addition to this, any polyureas forming in DESMODUR® SWN will cause turbidity and possibly precipitation of solids, leading to blockages in the filters, pumps and pipelines of the foaming equipment.
