Allgemeine Charakterisierung
Desmodur 70WF64 is a mixture of diphenylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate (MDI) with isomers and homologues of higher functionality used for the production of flexible polyurethane cold-curing HR molded foam for automotive seating.
Lagerungsbedingungen
Recommended storage temperature (°C): 20 - 40
Lengthy storage leads to an increase in viscosity of Desmodur® 70WF64, although in our experience this has no adverse effect on processing. Prolonged exposure to excessively high temperatures may cause insoluble precipitates. Temperatures below 15 °C, on the other hand may lead to crystallization. If drums containing crystallized Desmodur® 70WF64 are carefully warmed to a maximum of 70 °C, however, the material will return to the liquid state, although this may lead to an increase in the solids content. Once the product has been reliquefied, the contents of the drums must be homogenized.
Desmodur® containers - including empty ones - should always be kept tightly sealed. It is absolutely essential that water (which reacts with Desmodur® 70WF64 to form polyureas and giving off carbon dioxide) is excluded from the containers. During storage, transfer to other containers and processing of Desmodur® 70WF64, therefore, the access of water in any form (damp containers, aqueous solvents, moist air) must be prevented, otherwise carbon dioxide will evolve and produce a dangerous increase in pressure in the tanks and containers. In addition to this, any polyureas forming in Desmodur® 70WF64 will cause turbidity and possibility precipitation of solids, leading to blockages in the filters, pumps and pipelines of the foaming equipment.
Covestro represents that, for a period of 6 months following the day of shipment as stated in the respective delivery documents, the product will meet the values set forth in section "specification" above provided that the product is stored in full compliance with the storage conditions and is otherwise handled appropriately. The lapse of this period does not necessarily mean that the product no longer meets specifications. However, prior to using said product, Covestro recommends to test such a produc ... text to long!
