Key benefits

  • Specialized: We offer specific materials for aliphatic-based systems, optics, lenses & luminaires.
  • Glass-like transparency: High light transmission across the visual spectrum.
  • Ultra-tough: Strong Impact and break-resistance even at low temperatures.
  • Dimensionally stable: Offers high reproduction accuracy.
  • Ease of use: Materials are well-suited to injection molding and extrusion.
Our broad range of Makrolon® and Apec® polycarbonates addresses the needs of luminaire manufactures when it comes to creating energy-efficient illumination that is both sustainable and effective. This demands high lumen efficiency per watt, high flame-retardance, light guiding qualities, and the ability to create multi-functional parts that reduce the complexity and costs of luminaires. Our plastics also:

•    Provide glass-like high light transparency (> 90%)
•    Diffuse concentrated LED beams
•    Shape and guide light to enhance optics performance
•    Create reflective surfaces

LED lighting design is further enhanced by elastomers, such as Desmodur® or Baytec®, which allow freedom of design in LED encapsulation, particularly in aliphatic-based systems with high exposure to UV light, e.g.: highway & street lighting.
