New Covestro Digital Showroom unites deep-dive info with expert consultation
Leading plastics processing trade fair goes virtual
Fakuma is the leading international trade fair for plastics processing, from injection molding and extrusion technology, to thermoforming and 3D printing. In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s physical exhibition has been postponed until October 2021. In its place, for its 27th edition, Fakuma is organizing a virtual trade fair platform, a new online meeting place for suppliers and users of industrial plastics processing.
To seize this opportunity, we launched an entirely new, innovative Digital Showroom that combines the best of expert interaction with the ability to browse our product range in new depth, and to better understand the solutions we have enabled.
New Digital Showroom: product immersion plus expert conversations
Our first Digital Showroom marries the advantages of online technology with the distinctly personal touch of a live trade fair. Our new virtual Sample Library gives customers a personal deep dive into our products, starting with either the material aesthetic and design world, or with the detailed technical data for a given product.
In parallel, from October 13th-15th from 10:00 to 16:00 CEST Covestro industry experts will be available on the Digital Showroom floor, open for live interaction. Visitors can also make appointments with experts from our polycarbonates business or our coatings, adhesives and specialties area to learn more about applications or discuss specific ideas.
Makrolon®, Makrofol®, thermoplastic polyurethane, and Addigy® solutions made more accessible
The Sample Library means customers can get detailed technical information on our individual products, and consult interesting case studies on how they are applied in important industries including mobility, electronics, composites, healthcare, and additive manufacturing.
Solutions on display in the Digital Showroom include Makrolon®, an extremely robust, lightweight polycarbonate with glass-like transparency and impact resistance, which is used in things like medical devices, car headlights and sporting equipment. Our flexible Makrofol® films come in transparent, translucent, opaque or colored versions and offer outstanding graphic quality coupled with high heat resistance and tough elasticity. This film layering product can even integrate security features.
Visitors to the Digital Showroom can also consider a range of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) resins and blends that find use in car instrument panels, sporting goods, medical devices, and footwear and many other applications. Addigy® from Covestro is a toolkit of high-performance polyurethane and TPU materials coupled with technologies that tailor them to industrial 3D printing.
Our flexible online showroom concept combines the best of virtual experiences and expert consultation in one package. Online visitors can get immersed in our products and how they are used, and then draw on our seasoned industry experts to break silos; a new way of customer interaction in challenging times.
"Our Digital Showroom is an innovative rethink on how to give customers a deep dive into the world of product design and technical material data, without sacrificing the personal, one-to-one expert consultation of a trade fair."
